Please help the Burgess family through crisis

Many of you know that my nephew, Ryan, was shot in the line of duty almost 3 weeks ago. Thankfully, the damage was minimal and he is recovering well.  What you probably don’t know is that event occurred in the midst of another tragedy involving his father.  About two weeks prior, Ryan’s dad (my sister’s husband) suffered a massive heart attack. He had 100% blockage in his LAD (widow maker). Although initially doctors weren’t too optimistic, he miraculously survived and has since overcome every obstacle, including open heart surgery last week to repair a hole in his heart caused by the heart attack. God has answered every prayer and we are so thankful to still have Stan with us, but his battle is far from over.  His heart was severely damaged and he needs a miracle.  We don’t know how long he will be in the hospital or what the days ahead will bring, but we don’t want finances causing any added stress.  Stan and my sister, Cathy, have had to take a leave of absence from work.  Cathy only has one more week of paid leave but will not be able to return to work any time soon so that she can care for Stan until he regains his strength. Stan’s capacity to work in the future is unknown.  Once he is released, the plan is to send him home in a life vest. This will monitor his heart and help to keep him safe. As of yesterday their insurance has denied it. The vest is very costly, but necessary. They will appeal and we’re praying for approval but that takes time and there is no guarantee at all that it will get approved. Their son, Zach, has also taken off work (without pay) to assist and support his parents from the moment he got the dreaded call!  If you feel led to help in any way, the family would be forever grateful. First and foremost, we covet your prayers for a full recovery for Stan, and if you can help financially, it would be so appreciated. Before long, they may be receiving no income and I can’t imagine the medical bills that are coming on top of the everyday expenses.  Stan has a long road ahead of him to recovery! He is currently still in ICU and it remains uncertain when he’ll be able to go home.  Stan doesn’t know that I’m setting this up.   He’s always had such a generous heart, but he doesn’t like to ask for anything.  He has been such a blessing to us and has a way of making us laugh, even through the hardest circumstances.  He’s not just a brother in law.  He’s a brother and best friend to my husband and I, and a second father and very loved uncle to our kids.  Thank you so much for all prayers and support on his behalf.
