Thaddeus Taylor, the kindest, most gentle human I know has been facing increasingly difficult health issues the last three years, and our family could truly use some help to ease the financial burden of procuring his medical care.
Just in the last month alone we have been to the ER five times ($200 copay each visit), several doctor and Urgent care visits ($50 copay), countless days off work, and the list goes on.
We are currently at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota with myself (his mom), my mother, and Thaddeus. His cardiologist in Tulsa suspects microvascular and or autonomic dysfunction, in addition to his hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (which we found out today has gotten worse with additional thickness in his heart).
We are here for a confirmation and or a further diagnosis, as his Tulsa Dr. says this Mayo Clinic is one of the very few places that can treat Thaddeus, they do not have the technology in Tulsa to even diagnose him properly.
We have now been here a few days, today was a 12 hour day of testing, and so far the team has decided he needs a heart cath procedure on Tuesday of next week, with another full day of more specific testing tomorrow.
We were also told that it is suspected that he has something autoimmune (which we have been told before) and that it is thought to be significant as well as his heart conditions, and also Alpha-Gal from a tick bite several years ago. I haven’t named everything, as I’m worn out and would rather have the full report in front of me from the Mayo rather than say what the Oklahoma Dr’s say until we get confirmation).
That means we have appointments with Immunology back here in Rochester next month as well as this current trip.
When they told us we would have to come back, Mom and I looked at each other and said “What are we going to do?” as THIS trip is already incredibly expensive, much less another.
So, I’m humbly asking for help for our beloved Thaddeus. It hurts my heart that he is so ill, he is truly suffering. Whether it be life-threatening allergies, constant chest pain, difficulty breathing, agonizing urticaria/hives, or repeated illnesses from a compromised immune system, he is constantly living a nightmare… all while being kind, polite, and generally thoughtful.
I know times are hard for everyone, I really do, but if you could help, we would very much appreciate it.
You know, just a few weeks ago I refused to leave a hospital with Thaddeus all the way to having the hospital administrator come in and talk to me for almost two hours, something I never thought I would do.
Well, here I am again, doing things I never imagined, except to get my son the help he needs.
Thank you for all the well wishes for his recovery, I know it means a great deal to Thaddeus and the entire family.
