Please Help Terri Zacanti Bounce Back!
Hi I’m Cherie Soria. My sister, Terri Zacanti, has devoted her life to helping others, now she needs our help.
Last month, while walking her dog on a downhill slope here in Costa Rica, Terri took a serious fall. Her left arm was fractured, her cranium was bruised and swollen, and both of her knees were also badly swollen and bruised. Worst of all, her right hand/thumb area, which was causing her pain prior to the fall, was bent back and twisted, and is now in need of a delicate surgical repair called an Interposition Arthroplasty. She was referred by her physical therapist on the Nicoya Peninsula to a highly regarded orthopedist in Costa Rica’s capital city of San Jose: Dr Sequeira (pronounced cicada).
After meeting with him, Terri feels confident in his ability to perform the procedure. He will perform a CMC Suspension operation essentially hanging her thumb from her index finger after removing the trapezius bone. It is the most up-to-date and effective technique for her condition and has excellent long-term results.
Terri’s insurance will cover very little of the surgical costs and the expenses involved in after care and the many months without work will be financially devastating. She has been trying to stay positive while she allows more time for the healing of her left arm fracture, since she will need full use of that arm in order to navigate life for up to 5 weeks post-surgery and during the post-op therapy process. But she can’t wait any longer. She need the surgery asap.
We are asking for your help to get Terri through which looks to be a 3-to-4-month recovery and therapy process. She is anxious to get back to her life of helping others regain and maintain their own health. And she is fully aware that this will require stamina, patience, and professional therapy for a full recovery.
All money raised will assist with medical costs, travel, potential hotel stays, home assistance and care (ongoing expenses, groceries, etc.).
Let’s help Terri in her time of need and get her started on the road to recovery. Anything is appreciated and no donation is too small.
Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Cherie Soria
