It is with a humble and grateful heart that we create this account. So many wonderful people have reached out and asked how they can help our family and more specifically our Dad during this time.
As many people know our dad, Kevin has been diagnosed with PSP, which is a progressive neurological disease, several years ago. He has battled hard and well and he has had several years of still being able to do many of the mostly normal day to day living things as best he could. In the more recent 1-2 years the progression has become faster and more debilitating keeping him from being able to do the normal everyday tasks that we all take for granted without a second thought.
As the PSP disease has progressed faster, Kevin is unable to speak, walk, shower, brush his teeth or eat without assistance and is not able to be left alone due to the risk of falls and choking. It has been unimaginable for us as a family to watch, but it has been our honor to be with, laugh with, and care for him as a family. Our mom does most of the care and is by his side anytime she is not working as a flight attendant. When our mom is working or needing to be away we each step in and enjoy the time and memories being made with our Dad and help provide his care.
As the symptoms and progression have increased, the need for outside help and care has drastically increased and become necessary to look for and absorb the cost of that needed in home care for Kevin. It has been eye opening to realize that in home care is very expensive and largely not covered by insurance, which adds additional financial burden on my parents.
It is with that in mind that we created this go fund me to help with those in home care expenses, additional medical bills, travel to and from physical therapy and doctors appointments and relief that they will be used for. It will also allow our Mom to take a leave or at least not have to fly as often so she can be with our Dad during this very important season in their life to care for and be with him.
We so appreciate any donations and more importantly the love, prayers, and support that everyone has shown our parents and family during this difficult time with our Dad’s health. Each one is felt and means so much to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to each person who has reached out and wanted to know how they could help. We are so blessed to be surrounded by so much love.
Lexi, Colton and Abby
