My dear friend in Bali is in great need of help!!! His daughter, as he refers to her “a special gift from the God that is an angel without wings,” is hospitalized and in need of surgery.

My husband and I met this friend in May earlier this year, and later his family, in the small mountain town of Munduk, Bali. For 3 days, we were escorted, educated, and entertained. We were introduced to, and fell in love with, a world of people focused on doing for others. The hospitality, generosity, and genuine loving kindness of the Balinese people affected the deepest parts of our hearts and souls.

This young man, Milky, works tirelessly to support his wife and daughter, Divya. He is pure joy. He is always smiling, sharing his enthusiastic love for life and faith in all that is good. His job in Bali is to escort travelers. He works endless hours for very little money and then endless more when he gets home to care for his daughter born with severe disabilities caused by a rubella infection.

Milky’s daughter Divya has a smile that will light your soul. She is happy and so very loved. But unlike most seven-year-olds, Divya cannot walk or even sit upright without support. She cannot talk. She requires care around the clock to keep her body free from infection. Last week, Divya developed a frightening cough. She has been hospitalized and the best possible outcome for her recovery is for doctors to perform a lung reduction surgery, as antibiotic treatments alone are no longer effective.

Milky is sad, scared, and confused. He doesn’t have the money for the surgery and if he is forced to sell his car to pay for the procedure, he will no longer have a means to provide for his family as an escort. He has not asked for my help. I am asking on his behalf. He is a good man who is always doing for others. I hope to do for him and help him with his daughter’s healthcare expenses. I am hopeful that a pay-it-forward, loving act of kindness can be generated here and Milky can continue his work as an escort.
