Dear Family and Friends of Tim Slope. Our friend needs our help!

Whether you know Tim through Knotts, Disneyland, Northwest or Delta, or if you know him from his brilliant theater contributions, to know Tim is a rich and fulfilling experience. There are two reasons we are asking for your financial assistance, Identity Theft and a serious Medical Condition that has kept him from working or enjoying his life for over a year.

In March 2023, hackers accessed Tim’s iCloud account while working a trip to South America. The hackers took ALL of his personal information including banking, financial, cash apps, credit cards and retirement. The hackers changed all passwords, preventing Tim’s access to all aspects of his financial accounts, but also all contact information, emails, photos and documents. All critical to living in our connected world. He lost all access to his costume designs, theatrical contacts and his contacts list preventing him from reaching out to any friends for assistance. In July 2023 he expected a friend to repay a personal loan of $15,000 for burial/funeral expenses of his friends mother, but without his contact information he has not been able to recover the money from his friend. Later in the fall, Tim added two roommates to his home to offset his lack of income, but both individuals stopped paying rent, damaged Tim’s home. Tim incurred legal expenses to evict them and repair the damage. They both have been removed, but the damage and legal fees exceed the rent paid by over $7,000.

While in the middle of trying to deal with all of the financial loss, in August Tim began to have significant medical issues, starting with Kidney Stones but quickly expanding to include other urological issues. During this time the pain from his testicular issues was so bad he double herniated himself, requiring surgery. Tim’s issues are so complex the Specialists at USC Keck referred Tim to UCLA Medical Center. Tim has been diagnosed with a medical condition that will require a series of costly, non-insured tests and procedures.

Because all of this wasn’t enough, last month during a routine dental appointment, it was discovered that Tim has 8 cavities, 3 under crowns which are determined to be a result of extended use of steroids. The steroids have been prescribed to address continued pain and inflammation issues related to the Kidney Stones and testicular pain including the hernias mentioned above. Limited dental coverage to address these extensive dental issues. Finally, during a pre-op for the exploratory surgery, an ophthalmologist identified floaters and small tears around the retina causing vision problems. This is also a side effect of the steroids prescribed for pain management.

As you would expect, Tim has been unable to work since the fall of 2023. His only source of income at this time is State Disability. His efforts to raise money through roommates proved to be unsuccessful, but something that he will be trying again, working to ensure better roommates. To date his expenses exceed $80,000 with additional expenses expected throughout the rest of this year. It’s tragic to become a victim of identity theft, to lose access to your savings, have your credit ruined and to be unable to pay your bills. Equally, significant medical issues creates it’s own financial and mental health strain. We are asking for your assistance in helping Tim recover from both of these issues.
