Please Help Support This Amazing Family!

As many of you know, the Ryan family is facing the unimaginable.

In August 2019, Ed Ryan - loving husband, father, and devoted friend to all - was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer and suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side. While this disease took away his ability to work, travel, go boating and do so many of the other things he loved to do, he and his family have tried to stay positive throughout his illness and cherish their time together. His health requires around-the-clock care, which sadly extends beyond what anyone could have imagined. As if this weren't enough heartache for one family, the Ryan family has been tested once again.

Laura Fantasia Ryan, who has been juggling the roles of wife, mother, and full-time caretaker to Ed, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. To battle this illness, she will need to undergo chemo, surgery and radiation treatments. During her treatment, she is unable to provide the care she has given to Ed over the last few years. This wonderful family needs the support of the community around them.

Ed and Laura live in Scituate with their 15 year-old daughter, Allie. They do their best to smile through the pain and to maintain some semblance of normalcy, but as you can imagine, the road ahead is daunting. As Ed's condition continues to decline, his family’s focus is on providing the necessary level of care to keep Ed safely at home throughout the duration of his illness. Unfortunately, with Laura's upcoming treatments, she and her extended family and friends can no longer handle the task at hand on their own - or the medical expenses that continue to grow.

We are hopeful these additional funds will help offset some of the out of pocket costs associated with providing Ed the care and support he needs to stay at home. As a community, I hope we will embrace this family, send positive thoughts and prayers and, if possible, try to limit the financial landslide that is about to overwhelm them.
