On February 21st, 2022, our dear friends Katie and Blake had to hear the words no parent should ever have to hear: your daughter has leukemia. Their 9 year old daughter Sophia was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and initiated treatment shortly after diagnosis. She will require a lengthy duration of therapy, which involves hospitalization for weeks at a time, as well as a bone marrow transplant to treat her AML. Sweet Sophie has been incredibly brave and strong as have her parents and siblings, and all she wants is to be back home with them. While they are fortunate to have a very strong support system within their family and community at St. Vladimir, those of us who are far away want to know how we can help.
