One of my best friends, Terry and his wife, were notified last week by the property management company in charge of the rental house they have been living in for nearly 20 years, that the property owner passed away. As a result, the owner's family will be selling all of their investment/rental properties, including the home they've lived in for all of these years!

Fortunately, the owner's family is legally required to honor my friend's current lease. But, that lease expires June 30, 2026, and will not be renewed. This means that they need to be completely moved out of their current home by June 30, 2026!

Anyone who has moved into a rental home is well aware of the huge expenses involved in doing so! Application fees, rental deposit, cleaning deposit, utility deposits, costs for physically moving personal possessions, etc.

Though Terry has been, and is currently employed, and does have a regular income from work, this move was unexpected and unplanned. Therefore, they need some help with these initial costs.

Further, the current monthly cost of renting a home is substantially higher than what they are currently paying for the home they are being forced out of. Since the deposit amounts for a new/different rental are based upon, and additional to the monthly rental price of the property, the actual move-in costs are much higher than the ongoing rent.

Though the ongoing monthly rent will be satisfied by Terry's income from work, they are in need of some extra help with the move-in costs.
