Please help support Shauna

Hi, my name is Christie and I am starting this fundraiser to help my friend Shauna in America. I met her in a spiritual community and she truly needs some support and deserves it. She is a kind thoughtful person and has been through so much. I really want to be able to help raise some money to just make things a little easier for her whilst she is struggling so much finding shelters and catching buses from one shelter to the next. I want her to at least be able to buy food and drink.

Here is her story in her own words;

“ I am a displaced after being a homemaker of 15 years to an Iraq war vet who never got any help when he got back home. He packed a bag one day and left me and listed our house for sale. I was left alone and financially with nothing, so when he left, I only had a barely working car.

I buried both my parents the fall before so the car was my inheritance. I have had trouble finding work and my car eventually broke down. I was staying in a friends art studio but they needed the space back. So I had a week to work out what to do before taking a bus an hour and hoping I could get shelter. I was displaced in 2023 and have not had my own place since.

I have been working on it but none of the few programs left are accessible to those outside the shelter system. I've got the numbers to some programs for rental assistance and some churches that will hopefully come in handy. But right now, nothing to do but pack a bag and make my way to a shelter. I have had to figure out whats most important to bring..mom’s ashes.”
