After I moved into my apartment this August, I noticed a sweet and shy young cat limping around the residential parking lot searching for food. I quickly learned he was part of an existing feral colony surviving outdoors, and it was clear that he was in significant pain and struggling. After getting permission from my landlord to manage the colony, I spent time feeding the cats and getting a closer look at Sam and his injury. I discovered a large, open wound and a dropped shoulder. I could see that he was in pain and I knew I had to help him.
It wasnt until November that I was able to successfully trap Sam and bring him to a local vet, where x-rays showed abnormal bone tissue caused by a prolonged infection. The vet explained that Sam’s only options were euthanasia or amputation. Despite his injury, Sam proved to be strong, healthy, and incredibly affectionate. With my experience in feral colony management and fostering, I felt the best decision was to give Sam a fighting chance at a better life. Both the vet and I are confident that, after amputation, Sam will thrive as a happy and spoiled indoor kitty.
Sam has endured so much, living outdoors with his injury for the past 4 months, yet he remained hopeful and determined to survive. How long he was actually living with his injuries, and how it happened, we will never know, but I do know that Sam deserves a shot at a beautiful life in a loving home.
Sam is currently indoors, safe and warm with me, and recovering beautifully from his amputation surgery.
Sam's vet bills and necessary supplies for his recovery are significant, and I am humbly asking for financial assistance to get Sam through this stage in his life. Helping Sam would mean the world to me, and your support gives him the second chance he truly deserves.
Every donation in any amount is appreciated, and I am grateful for the support.
