Earlier this spring, our family received shocking news that my brother-in-law, Russell Rodgers (husband of Lisa, my sister), was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer. This was made all more shocking because he has never been a smoker in his life and has always been so healthy.

All summer, he battled quietly and bravely while undergoing simultaneous chemo and radiation here in Dallas. He continued to work full-time while undergoing treatment daily and did so well, enduring the harsh treatments.

They recently discovered that the cancer is unfortunately spreading and will now need to seek out more options down in Houston at MD Anderson.

Lisa was recently laid off from her job at the JCPenney Corporate office, which has been a blessing as she has been by his side for every test, procedure, and treatment. However, it has put a small strain on their finances during this hard season.

As this fight is continuing on and treatment locations are changing, we want to help lighten their financial burdens of the expenses of cancer such as gas, meals and hotels, along with medications and co-pays. Russell loves his job so much and plans to continue working as long as he’s able to during his treatments but knowing that we can help support them with these additional expenses will help lighten the heavy load of stress they are carrying.

We are asking for your help to ensure that Russell can access the very best care in the next phase of treatment without the additional stress of financial hardship. Every contribution—no matter the amount—will go directly toward:
