Our family is reaching out to ask for help in this time of need, a time of heartbreak and a time of hope.

We were just informed that our sister-in-law was diagnosed with Oligodendroglioma grade 3, which is an aggressive brain cancer, highly invasive. Mariel has undergone surgery this past November and is hopeful to start proton radiation within the week for 6 weeks and then start chemo treatments for another 6 months to a year. Mariel is unable to work during this time. Although she has some financial assistance, the out-of-pocket for these treatments is unbelievably high. Her and her husband, Ruben Ruiz, have 2 children, Ruben and Mia. Mariel is determined to fight this battle for the sake of her family if given the chance. I encourage you to look up this type of cancer to see the heart-wrenching reality and severity of it.

We remain hopeful and ask if you’re able to please help give her the “chance” she needs to be here for her children as long as possible by donating any amount you can afford to give.
