Please Help Support Rod Boyce Fight Cancer!

Hi, my name is Michelle and I am fundraising for our dear friend Rod who is fighting Stage 3 brain cancer.

His story follows below & I hope you can find it in your heart to help this wonderful Husband & Father of three. If you know this family personally, you have seen their kindness & support for others going through any hardship in our community. Please help me in supporting them during this difficult time.

 

Rod began losing his memory; after about six months and a progression in memory loss, in June he went to visit his doctor thinking he had the start of dementia. His doctor ordered an MRI, and on June 15th his doctor called him and told him he had a mass  in his brain. From there began the MRIs, CT Scans, and many other tests to see how the tumor affected him. June 30th was his last day of working; July 1st he had surgery to remove the tumor however; the entire tumor could not be removed.  He has gone through 30 radiation treatments and has exhausted all of his leave at work; and his last month of work was leave without pay.  

 

In October, he will get another MRI to assess the tumor’s response to radiation and will begin chemotherapy. His chemotherapy is scheduled for 12 months but could go longer. Along  with chemotherapy he will have to have an MRI every two months for a year and then every three months for the rest of his life.

 

The many tests, scans, radiation, and chemo treatments without leave has put a financial burden on the family. It will take him time to build up his leave at work so his many doctor’s appointments and other medical appointments will be without pay, along with if chemo affects him to where he cannot work while on chemotherapy.

 

Your financial support will help with the surmounting and continuous medical bill due to a long period of treatments, along with assisting in maintaining a household and supporting three children.

 

Update Sept 2021: Rod has successfully completed 6 weeks of radiation and we're so proud of this accomplishment! In October he will begin  chemotherapy for one year at at a minimum.
