Hello all...this is definitely not something I ever saw myself doing. However, as some of you may know, the last few weeks have been incredibly challenging for our family. On December 21, 2024, my husband had what looked like a pimple on his lip. The next day, his face started swelling inside and out. We went to Urgent Care, where they quickly said he had a cold sore and gave antiviral meds and sent him on his way.
The swelling progressed rapidly, and we went to the ER. They admitted him immediately to the ICU for monitoring and put him on continuous IV antibiotics to slow the spread of infection. The next day, he had plastic surgery to remove as much infected tissue as possible before it spread to his airway. The tissue cultures came back and showed MRSA.
A 2nd surgery was done 48 hours later to remove additional tissue.
Since then, he has been on continuous IV antibiotics, has had multiple wound cleanings, and has daily blood draws to see how his levels are improving. He's been in the hospital 10 days so far and on a liquid only diet, which for all meals is one jello, broth, and juice.
Unfortunately, he does not qualify for FMLA as he's not been at his job a full year. The doctor anticipates a lengthy recovery, which means he will be out of work without pay for quite a while.
We anticipate large medical bills, especially since plastic surgery was required two times combined with everything else.
We understand that times are tough for everyone. Many of us in one way or the other have had a challenging year. Asking for help is never an easy thing to do but sometimes we all need a little help.
If you find yourself able to help, please know that we'd be deeply grateful. If you're not able to help, please know that we completely understand and simply ask for your continued prayers and good vibes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for all those that have already contacted us with prayers and support, we're beyond thankful.
Love,
