Hello,
I am Grandma Marissa (Lola), I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a request for your support and assistance on behalf of my beloved grandson (apo) Zach, who is currently fighting a tough battle against a rare and severe disease called Anti-NMDA receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis.
Anti-NMDA receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis, is a rare autoimmune disorder affecting Zach’s brain. This devastating condition causes the body's immune system to mistakenly attack the brain, leading to a range of severe symptoms, from psychiatric disturbances to neurological complications. It has robbed him of his vibrant personality. The memory loss, the daily seizures and the cognitive impairments have transformed our little 4-year-old boy’s world into one of uncertainty and confusion. As Zach’s grandmother, it breaks my heart to witness his suffering.
Zach was energetic, playful and affectionate– a brave 4-year-old who loves and enjoys playtime with his Mom, Dad, baby sister Zoe and grandpa (Lolo).
Zach suffered brain seizures at the onset of this condition – in 2 weeks, this debilitating condition affected Zach’s brain and caused a range of severe symptoms, including cognitive impairment, seizures, behavioral changes, and motor dysfunction.
He is only 4 years old and has already endured weeks of grueling treatments, hospital stays, and numerous medical procedures. It's been incredibly hard to see our little boy deal with such a difficult illness. But despite the challenges, Zach continues to fight hard for his life! And we remain grateful for the medical care that is continuously provided by a team of doctors and specialists in the Philippines.
I am reaching out to you in my humble request for your support and donation toward my grandson’s medical treatment and ongoing care.
We appreciate your kindness and generosity as we launch this GoFundMe campaign to help us offset the medical costs associated with my grandson's treatment.
We ask for your thoughts and prayers, and that you share Zach's story. We are incredibly grateful for your love, whether it's a donation, sharing this page, or keeping Zach in your thoughts and prayers.
With deep gratitude,
Grandma Marissa (Lola)
