On October 25th 2023 I was told by my primary doctor to go to the hospital ASAP after she received my lab results for my blood work. After several procedures, which included draining almost 7 liters of fluid from my stomach and many painful needle pokes and 4 blood transfusions and 6 iron IV injections, they finally released me on October 30th 2023.
Unfortunately, they also gave me the news that I have stage 4 stomach cancer and it had spread. I was told early on that I was inoperable and incurable but that I was still treatable. Since then I've been on an emotional, physical and mental roller coaster, but I haven't been on it alone. I have such an amazing family who have been by my side through it all and I have great friends who lifted my spirits as well. I'm forever grateful for all the love I've received and for the family I have.
That being said, like many cancer patients, I'm experiencing a heavy financial burden due to several treatments, medications and scans. So far this year alone I had to pay thousands out of pocket and my funds are running out. I still have more bills coming in and I will need more treatments and scans down the road and potentially, if I'm lucky and blessed enough to become operable, I'll have surgical costs to pay for.
Through this experience I'm learning so much, including that it isn't weak to show your vulnerability and its ok to ask for help. With a humble heart I ask that if you can help me with my cancer journey there is no amount that is too small. I'm also a person who has strong faith and if all you can give is your prayers and good vibes and thoughts, I will, with an open and grateful heart accept those as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and feel free to share my link if you'd like.
