Please Help Support Mom's Multiple Organ Transplant Journey.

As a lot of you may know, my mom has had a not-so-great experience in the last few years with medical issues. Seems to always be something new popping up and wrecking havoc. Usually, it can be treated or at least managed, and her quality of life is functional. The last few months have been intense and overwhelming, and we are at the point that we are unsure what to do and unfortunately need to ask for some help to get her the help that she needs to save her life...
Three months ago, the doctors found a portal vein thrombosis (blood clot) that blocks proper blood flow and liver function. Blood was not flowing properly to and from it so in an attempt to thin the blood they placed her on anti-coagulants. This seemed to help ease some of her pain and returned some blood flow to the liver. Unfortunately, the anti-coagulants had to be stopped abruptly due to a sudden bleed on her brain about the size of a walnut. They believe that was caused by the medication. Once she was taken off the medication the liver very rapidly started shutting down and her bowels became ischemic and could no longer digest or process food properly. She has been unable to consume much of anything for the last few months due to extreme pain and has lost a substantial amount of weight.
Which brings us to our current predicament. As of Saturday, she was back at the hospital with an increase of pain and other severe symptoms. Her skin and eyes have turned yellow due to the high amounts of bilirubin in her system. All of which makes her very sick and unable to eat. Her spleen was enlarged yet again, along with diverticulitis. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and different information coming from all different places. Originally the plan was for the hospital to transfer and admit her to a hospital in Pittsburgh to see a specialist that can treat the blood clot. But due to no room being available they could not provide the accommodations. Thankfully, the specialist is still willing to treat her, but it would be through his office which will mean multiple trips, visits, procedures and surgeries. Traveling is going to be very hard on her. This is our only option though for some kind of hope to get her feeling better and in a more stable place. She has practically been living at the hospital for months now, with only a day here or there that she gets to come home before ending up back.
At 11:00am this morning the doctor in Pittsburgh called and said that she needs a multiple organ transplant which will include the liver, pancreas and bowels. We do know for sure that for at least her first stay it will be 5 days and it can take up to a year to receive all of the organs…
Insurance is only covering 80% of procedures, anesthesia and other testing. On top of all of that we need to find a way to come up with the funds for fuel to and from Pittsburgh multiple times, hotel stays as I know making the trip back and forth all in one day will be far too much for her and James to handle.
I know times are hard on everyone right now, we are desperately doing the best that we can to make this work but if by chance anyone would like to help with the expenses that we are facing as a family to try and save her… Any and all help is greatly appreciated.. I will update everyone as more is known.
I love you all and please just pray..
