In the beginning of January, Michelle heard the words that no one wants to hear “You have stage 4 lung cancer”. In 2023, Michelle fought and overcame breast cancer. During treatment, she and her husband Paul never paused in their mission to reunite lost pets with their families, secure dumped and abandoned animals, and were always available to anyone who needed their help. Most people complete unaware of her on going treatments during that time. This diagnosis proved to be no different.
In December , what started out as an annoying cough that had hung around for a couple of months became serious when Michelle began coughing up blood. On Dec, 23rd, an Xray found a large mass in her right lung. On January 19th, a biopsy was done and within a couple of days the devastating news came that it was indeed a malignant tumor. It was not related to the breast cancer, but a whole new cancer. On January 30th a PET scan was done and showed that it had metastasized to the brain with a small lesion appearing as well as a spot on one of her ribs giving her a stage 4 diagnosis.
Quietly and with only a handful of people, mostly immediate family, knowing what was going on, Michelle began the first of many treatments to come. She has already undergone three chemotheraphy treatments and on March 12th had a gamma knife procedure in Albuquerque to address the small brain lesion . During this entire time, Michelle and Paul have not stopped their mission and have continued to reunited lost pets with their owners. On Friday the 13th, Michelle was hospitalized for four days and continued to work cases from the hospital bed.
Treatment will be ongoing for years to come. and possibly forever, Michelle has selflessly helped so many in our community now its time we thank her, please donate what you are able and share. THANK YOU
