My name is Angelica and I'm sharing this information in hopes to bring some assistance to a very dear friend, Matthew Peek. He has given me permission to share the following information:

Matthew was diagnosed last year with a genetic condition called Factor 5, which creates painful, unnecessary blood clots in the body. On July 3rd, Matthew was hospitalized with 2 DVT blood clots in his arm. Two days later, another was found in his leg. From his diagnosis last year to August 8th, Matthew has been hospitalized multiple times with 27 different blood clots, several of which were DVT clots, with one now located in his jugular. The doctors at Mission have tried various treatments, including multiple blood thinners at varying dosages, with no success. During a recent blood draw, his blood was clotting as it was being pulled from his arm. Matthew is being transferred to Chapel Hill within the next few days for further diagnosis and treatment options in hopes they can figure out what is causing these clots and try to get him back to his normal self.

Matthew has been restricted from working since July 3rd, and unfortunately, bills do not stop accruing for anyone. I am hoping that we can work together to help him continue to maintain some form of financial security while he continues to be restricted from working for at least the next 3 months and is under the care of the doctors at Chapel Hill.

Please help in whatever way you can, if you are able. Please continue to pray for answers and that the doctors at Chapel Hill can find the right treatment. Please continue sending your well-wishes for Matthew and for a speedy recovery.
