Hi, I'm Tammy, Logan's mom. I hesitated doing this, but Bryan and I could really use your help. Logan was diagnosed with scoliosis at the young age of 12. He has been followed by the amazing Orthopedic Pediatric team at the IWK ever since. At first, his curves in his back were mild and we were monitoring with xrays. We knew that as Logan grew, his curves would mostly worsen as well, however this is not always the case, so we all remained hopeful. He just kept growing and his curves kept getting progressively worse, which is where we are today. I am raising funds for Logan as in just a bit over 2 months from now, Logan is about to face one of the biggest challenges of his life — spinal fusion surgery. This procedure will help correct serious issues with his spine and give him a better chance at living a healthier, more comfortable life in the future.

While we are grateful that this surgery is available, the road to recovery will be long and comes with many unexpected expense

After we return home, there will also be numerous follow-up appointments and additional trips to Halifax required to make sure his healing is going well. Logan is going to require an extreme amount of physiotherapy as well.

As an 18 year old young adult who has played basketball since he was 4 years old, and who rarely missed a workout day at the gym, this is crushing as a parent. He will not be able to do much this summer, so we will have to do everything we can to lift his spirits up!

While we are grateful that this surgery is available, the road to recovery will be long and comes with many unexpected expenses. Logan and some friends rented a house for University, which is from 01 May 2026- 30 April 2027. He will not able to work this year, paying for an apartment on top of everything else really is overwhelming.

Once he is home, recovery will take time and require some important adjustments to keep him comfortable and help his spine heal properly. We have already purchased new furniture so he has the proper support, including a recliner chair (Lazy Boy style) that allows him to sit and rest safely, as well as a double pillow-top mattress to provide the support his back will need during recovery. These items will play an important role in helping him manage pain and sleep comfortably as he heals.

Logan is strong, determined, and doing his best to stay positive as he prepares for this life-changing procedure. We are incredibly proud of his courage, but we also know that this journey will be challenging both physically and financially.
