Logan Christopher Olson was born on July 12, 1999, with a significant congenital heart defect. As a baby, he had two open-heart surgeries. In 2015, at age 15, he had his 3rd open-heart surgery, which was expected to be effective for 10 years. He had a transcatheter valve replacement at age 20 due to the 3rd open-heart surgery not having the expected outcome. At his annual visit to the cardiologist in May, we were completely blindsided when the echocardiogram showed that two of his heart valves had severe leakage. The medical team presented us with two options: 1. Transcatheter valve replacement (minimally invasive) 2. Open-heart surgery (more invasive, better long-term outcome).

Bravely, Logan has chosen to do open-heart surgery again. His 4th open-heart surgery will take place on July 18, just 6 days after his 26th birthday.

While his heart hasn't always physically worked at 100%, the love it is able to show to others (and animals) has always operated at maximum capacity! His strength and positivity throughout his medical journey have been inspirational to all who know and love him. He's never let it slow him down from living life to the fullest.
