Dear Friends,
As many of you know, I lost my beloved dog Jasper a little under two years ago. Very sadly, his sister, my sweet and super Lisa, is now facing some serious medical issues.
Contrary to Jasper, whose illness came on suddenly and was untreatable, Lisa’s situation, while grave, can be treated - to a degree.
This will require surgery to remove a large tumor on her liver. The vets believe the surgery will extend her life expectancy significantly. If we don’t do the surgery, then we are looking at a much shorter time for her, with complications that would greatly affect the function of other organs, and lead to much suffering — something I cannot abide.
Anyone who knows me, knows that my animals (including Jasper and Lisa’s cat sister, Tasca) are my world, and that above all, I believe in the well-being of all animals everywhere and giving them every chance available. Lisa is a particularly special girl who we rescued from an abusive situation when she was just a wee thing. She has never let her difficult beginnings impact her inherent loving nature.
This brings me to why I am reaching out.
The operation and post-op treatment, including chemo, are going to be very expensive, and, as some of you may know, I have had some financial setbacks in the past year. The $3000 goal I have set wouldn’t cover everything for Lisa, but it would be a big help.
Trust me, I am embarrassed to be asking, but if you are able to contribute, it would be unbelievably appreciated. If you are unable, or would feel uncomfortable doing so, please know that I understand fully. We also would be happy for some simple good vibes.
I thank you in advance and for keeping us in your thoughts.
Love,
Nancy, Lisa & Tasca (and Jasper, up by the Rainbow Bridge)
