Hello, my name is Sean and I am Joanne’s fiancé. We were getting married at the end of September; however, in the midst of wedding planning, we received unimaginable news. On June 23, Joanne went to the ER for a sore throat and concerning blood work results. There, doctors informed us that she had AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia), a rare blood and bone marrow cancer. AML was the last thing we expected considering Joanne was otherwise a healthy young woman. Due to AML’s aggression, Joanne was transferred to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital immediately where she began an intensive chemotherapy regimen only three days after her diagnosis. She spent almost a month in the hospital between her chemotherapy and a blood infection she caught due to a very weakened immune system. Joanne is currently undergoing fertility preservation while she awaits her next round of chemotherapy, followed by full body radiation, and eventual bone marrow transplant.

We are raising money to help alleviate stress during this very difficult time. All donations will go towards out of pocket fertility treatments, medical treatments, travel, parking, and other unexpected costs that arise during this long process.

Joanne has already had numerous blood and platelet transfusions and will inevitably need more during future treatments. Hopefully, a bone marrow transplant will cure Joanne allowing her to live a long and healthy life. Joanne’s life, as well as so many others, relies on generous people like you.
