Please help support Jacob and Nick

Hello all, and thank you for your time. My name is LA and recently a good friend of mine, Jacob, also known as "Yakobi" to others in our community of friends, has been undergoing a housing crisis alongside his partner Nick, and their two pets, Kuma and Kiwi. Jacob and Nick were unexpectedly and abruptly displaced from their apartment in Texas at the beginning of this month. Their apartment floor was deemed no longer safe to live in, as the building was flooding and the walls of their home were becoming afflicted with mold. Aside from that, elevators had been breaking down mid-ride, and were even involved in a terrifying event where Nick and Kuma were trapped inside as they waited for emergency services to break them out. Due to concerns for their health and safety, they were forced to pack up their two pets and leave behind/dispose of many of their belongings that were destroyed by the mold exposure. They are currently living with some friends as they plan how to get back on their feet, but are left without many of their precious belongings, and money has grown extremely tight from the complexity of the situation.

 

Currently, the City of Austin Code Department is investigating the apartment building for structure and land use violations that have contributed to the displacement of my good friend and his partner and beloved pets, as well as many of the other tenants who lived in the building as well. This is a very challenging time for those who were forced to leave behind their home and dispose of many of their belongings, as they navigate through this difficult time.

 

All proceeds and donations will go directly to Jacob, Nick, and their pets Kuma and Kiwi, to help support them with warm meals, daily necessities such as hygiene products, clothes, cell phone and car bills, dog and cat food for their beloved pets, temporary housing, medical bills accrued from treatments due to mold exposure, Jacob's new CPAP that he needs to help him sleep at night as the mold contaminated and destroyed his previous one, and much more. We will continue to provide updates with their living conditions, but we hope that this won't last for long.
