Help Support Carolannes Pain Management
In 2018, I was a normal mom of 2 boys on town committees, about to start an internship, going to school full time, majoring in environmental science with my main focus being water contamination. Every month was planned out. A semester away from starting my bachelors (and then onto law school for Environmental Law) while sitting in class I noticed some back pain out of nowhere. In the coming weeks which would turn into months, the pain intensified and new symptoms started to rapidly occur. My body was now, and is still in, constant excruciating pain every moment of every day, with more symptoms to boot. I was forced to take 2 semesters off to get to the root of my problem. My symptoms matched up with a form of endometriosis called adenomyosis. The only way to diagnose this condition was a hysterectomy. In the following months, I had a laparoscopy and a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, it was not adenomyosis. The surgery was in vain, and my pain and other symptoms had gotten much worse. After taking a look at pre-surgery bloodtests, it was confirmed that I had a gene defect. A metabolic disorder called MTHFR. I was found to have a double strain. Homozygous for the A1298C varient. Basically, this condition is a defect that blocks full capacity of nutrient conversion, being 40-70% defective. This effects all body systems, including neurological. At the same time, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, with a correlation between the 2. It is believed to have been caused by a few factors. One being the MTHFR gene mutation, a prior car accident in 2015, childbirth, and prior trauma. Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread pain. Fibromyalgia pain comes from dysfunction in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), hence why pain is widespread. Since everything is controlled by the CNS, every sense is effected. I am currently unable to work outside of my home or start my bachelors. I need constant help and many breaks. My symptoms are constant excruciating pain in my entire body, chronic fatigue, inability to grip my hands, poor coordination, hot flashes, nausea, dizziness, brain fog, insomnia etc. This requires round the clock pain management. I refuse to be prescribed pain pills due to the fact that I do not want to be addicted, and pain pills do not cure either condition I have. I have managed to find a pain management clinic that addresses both my metabolic disorder and my physical symptoms. With the help of different therapies, nutritionists and a coach, I have a great chance at returning to a normal life, pain free and symptom free. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover this therapy, only prescription pain pills which I do not want. Being unable to work outside my home (I am looking for remote work) or go to school, funds are extremely limited. I am asking for donations towards my pain management therapy. This includes:
AquaMED Dry Therapy
Electroanalgesia Treatment
Cervical or Lumbar decompression therapy
Deep Tissue Laser Therapy
I know support can move mountains. It's been 16 months. I've had to cut 95% of activities that are important to me and the future of my family out to focus on my health. With your help I can start my bachelor's. I can do internships. I can continue my activism fighting for clean water. I can live a pain free life without being forced to take prescription pain medicine. I can have my life back. If you've made it to the end of my story, thank you. If you cannot donate, can you please help me by sharing? *big squeeze* thank you.
