Please Help Kahlia’s Family Lay Her To Rest

Kahlia just arrived, almost four short months ago, on December 2nd, 2021. Born a perfectly healthy little girl to Kayla Krueger and Bishop Brittman, the family of six became a family of seven! Kahlia was born a healthy little girl. With three boys and now two girls, Mom and Dad were never more happy. Making arrangements for four grade school kids and a newborn proved to be a challenge. But Mom and Dad had to get back so they could continue providing for their big family. Bishop was back within a few weeks. But we all know, Moms always need more time. Kayla was exhausted after battling postpartum depression and anxiety. No Mom is ever ready to leave their baby girl. But can any family afford living off a single income these days? After almost three months at home with her baby girl, Kayla was ready to return. They found a baby sitter to help with baby Kahlia. It was a decision Kayla had struggled with, but she trusted this lady and decided to move forward.
Kayla would openly discuss her fear and constant worry for her newborn baby girl. She always thought something wasn't right. A mothers instinct is never wrong. On Friday, March 18th, every parents worst nightmare became reality for Bishop and Kayla. Just before noon, Kayla was at work when she noticed a missed call from Kahlia's babysitter. Before she had time to excuse herself from work and return the call, another call came in. This time the number wasn't familiar. Kayla tells it best in her own words:
A facebook post from March 24th, 2022
"my daughter code blue at 11:13am. I was at work when I got the call from the sheriffs that my daughter was being sent to doctors west and they are getting an officer to pick me up from work to rush me to the hospital. Upon arrival I didn’t know what was going on or if she was even okay I was greeted by doctors and Chaplin trying to pull me in a room. I screamed and cried because we all know what that room is for I couldn’t think I was screaming and crying so hard about to vomit! Daddy and more family arrived after I got the news that my daughter coded and went into cardiac arrest. By the grace of god she was brought back all her organs was damaged along with brain injury. We’re told she might not make it the next 3-5 days given her state and the damage that was done. But by the power of everyone’s prayers and support she is fighting through! We are still faced with a lot of unknowns or what her future will be like it’s going to be a battle. But please I beg everyone please keep praying for our baby girl because with the medical staff and ur guys support it has helped my sweet girl and thank you everyone...."
The babysitter had put Kahlia down for a nap. After making her rounds and checking on the other kids, she went back to check up on the baby. As soon as she saw Kahlia she immediately knew something wasn't right with her and quickly grabbed her. Her body went limp and she started vomiting. Frantically, the babysitter found her phone and called 911 while beginning cpr. The paramedics arrived within minutes. While Kahlia was being rushed to the nearest hospital, Doctors West, the sheriffs department sent a cruiser to pick Kayla up in order to safely get her to her baby.
The initial prognosis was grim. Kahlia has been on life support showing no signs of brain activity. Doctors told Bishop and Kayla the first 3-5 days were crucial for Kahlia's survival. The leads monitoring her brain activity were a constant reminder that the odds of her survival were not looking good. The doctors began preparing the family for the worst news, and deep down inside, they knew what news was coming. An MRI was scheduled for Monday, March 21st. Terrified to hear the results, Kayla and Bishop requested to hear them the following day, instead. By the grace of God, Kayla and Bishop finally received some good news. Finally! During the MRI doctors discovered that Kahlia's brain stem showed no signs of damage. Furthermore doctors discovered which areas of the brain had been most affected. The areas controlling movement and memory shared the most significant damage. With all things considered, Kahlia's team of doctors started comparing her injury to a stroke. Kahlia's brain activity has yet to show any signs of significant improvement. But over the last couple days she's beginning to show more and more signs of life. She's had movement in her legs, she's coughed, and she even started fighting the breathing machine by trying to breath over it herself. Kayla and Bishop finally got the chance to hold their little girl after the longest week of their life. The prayers seem to be working!
This past week has been incredibly difficult for the whole family, but especially for Mom and Dad. They refuse to leave her side. How could they possibly go back to work when their little girl is battling for her life? They both have wonderful family who provide endless support. The older kids have been with Grandma and Grandpa. Thank god for wonderful grandparents. But Kayla and Bishop still have bills they need to pay. They still have to be able to provide for the rest of their family. Rent, car payments, utility bills and medical bills etc. wont pause so Mom and Dad can be with their girl. They need help. Right now they need immediate help with their bills and normal living expenses. But they're gonna need help with all the medical bills they will soon be getting as well. They just aren't sure what the future looks like right now. Kayla has mentioned a few of the challenges baby Kahlia may soon be faced with: she mentions that regardless of the immediate outcome Kahlia will be looking at a lot of different therapies, possibly a trach tube and even a feeding tube. They don't know if their daughter will ever be able to walk or talk. What Mom and Dad do know is that regardless what the future care of baby Kahlia requires, they are 100% committed to giving their baby the best quality of life possible. As long as they have their little girl, they don't care what that might require. While Kahlia continues to fight for her life, the whole family knows they have a long road ahead. Mom and Dad are ready for the challenge, but I'm asking today for any help you may be able to give. Whether that's a monetary donation, an outreach of support, or even just praying for Kahlia, Mom, Dad and the rest of the family. They could certainly use it. They need it, and they most definitely deserve it.
*UPDATE* It is with heavy and broken hearts we share the passing of Kahlia on June 17th, 2023. Please help support her family lay her to rest as they were not prepared for her to earn her wings so soon.

Please feel free to share Kahlia's story. Thank you so much for your support!
