Please Help Support a Family in Need During a Medical Crisis

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, for sharing it with others, and for considering how you might help a young family currently facing one of the most difficult times in their lives.

On June 16th, 2025, my 23-year-old son and his girlfriend welcomed their second child together — her fourth child overall. Though the baby was carried to full term, he was rushed to the NICU immediately after birth. Doctors soon informed the parents that their baby boy was born with several serious health complications.

To name a few, he was born prematurely at 4 lbs 6 oz, with respiratory issues, only one kidney which is not functioning, spinal abnormalities, and ear complications that will affect his hearing. Despite the mother attending all of her prenatal visits, these conditions were never detected in advance.

This young couple is already caring for a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old, and now they are preparing to transfer their newborn to Miami Children’s Hospital — nearly 200 miles round trip from their home — so their newborn can receive the specialized care he urgently needs.

They are facing enormous logistical and emotional challenges. Their two-year-old is not in school and cannot accompany them to Miami. They must now figure out childcare arrangements for both the 2-year-old and the 10-year-old while also commuting back and forth to be with their newborn in the hospital.

To make matters more difficult, the family’s only vehicle is a 2007 Honda Civic that is unreliable and unsafe for such long-distance travel.

We are reaching out to ask for your help.

We hope to raise enough support to:
-Repair the family’s vehicle so they can safely travel to and from Miami
-Provide short-term childcare or school options for the two-year-old
-Ease some of the financial burden this crisis has placed on them

Any amount of support — whether financial, emotional, or practical — will go a long way toward helping this family navigate the coming days and weeks. Your generosity will not only help them care for their critically ill newborn but also ensure their other children are safe and supported during this time.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.

Warmly,
Grandmother
