I am writing this note to all of you in hopes that maybe you can join me in helping another cat caregiver who is going through a rough time. This spring, Sue was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. When I met her almost two years ago, she told me she works part-time strictly to pay for the care of the 50+ cats she cares for at home and in various cat colonies. I found her kindness and compassion to be admirable. I felt a connection to her spirit as I understand that deep desire to help the cats who need me.
I am a stage 3 breast cancer survivor, 20+ years now. But at the time when I had to go through all the cancer chemos and radiations for months and months and months, I too was taking care of 30-50 cats. I remember how hard it was, and with each treatment, it got harder. But unlike Sue, I was able to continue working. Sue cannot.
Her treatments are horrific, and she is sick. She is still caring for her cats but might not be able to as time goes on, and plans are in place to help her if needed. But she is worried about money for cat food and care for the cats who rely on her day in and day out. With all she is going through, I want to help ease that worry a bit.
I am going to be donating to help Sue to be financially able to care for the cats she helps. I am hoping that maybe you too might be able to help a fellow cat lover. No donation is too small. I will be giving 100% of the money donated directly to Sue. She was reluctant to have me do this GoFundMe because she is a caretaker, but even caretakers need help too. Sue asked for anonymity but has sent me photos of some of the many cats she cares for.
Thank you for reading. In this big old world, one of the best things we can do is care for each other. Kindness is so rewarding. God bless. ❤️
