Please help- Stage 4 cancer,76 years old, financial hardship

I am organizing this fundraiser for my dear friend Richard Rosenbloom, who is 76 years old, has stage 4 prostate cancer, and is struggling financially.

Up until last June, Richard was working in his consulting practice, as a safety officer in clinical drug research. In June 2023 he was rushed to the ER with life threatening symptoms. After 2 surgeries, one of which was an emergency surgery for hemorrhaging which left him with PTSD and blood loss anemia, a diagnosis was reached of prostate cancer. After several diagnostic tests and scans, metastasis was detected and his diagnosis became stage 4 prostate cancer.

Treatment was begun 3 months after first symptoms.

During this time, Richard suffered infections which required hospitalization.

Due to his illness, he lost the consulting contracts that were the majority of his income.

Expenses associated with the treatment of stage 4 prostate cancer are significant, even with insurance.

Since he has been in treatment, he has tried to restore his consulting practice, which is what he wants to do.

Meanwhile, without income from his prior contracts coming in, paying bills including rent, health insurance etc has become a major problem.

Help from family, friends, assistance and grants have been exhausted.

Eviction has become a real issue.

The situation continues to deteriorate.

This financial stress on top of stress related to the stage 4 cancer is taking a severe toll on Richard.

The goal of this fundraiser is to raise funds to allow Richard to pay rent etc while he is working to restore his consulting contracts.

The GoFundMe proceeds will also help him

to reduce his expenses by moving to a less expensive apartment - which will require a security deposit and involve moving costs.
