My story below was written with the help of my friend Briana Augustine:
When Sivitri moved from California to Europe she did so with a whole lot of faith, a vision of a home that would feel like a sanctuary to her, and a life she’d dreamt of for many years. She let go of the life she’d outgrown and most of the belongings she’d gathered over the course of her 23 years of living in the USA. She kept a few sentimental items, which, as an artist and creative she considers to be a part of her soul; things from loved one’s and her travels, her writing journals, which she will be using to write her memoir, and her artwork, which she packed up carefully and stored with the confidence that after a successful relocation she could have the precious items shipped to her new home.
When Sivitri first arrived in Florence, Italy, she worked hard to find a temporary home and work to support herself. She was presented with quite a few opportunities and life seemed full of possibilities! She started teaching dance and doing massage in a well-known healing oasis in the center of Florence and helped out at a beautiful Air BnB right next to the famous Duomo. Living and working in this open-air museum seemed like a dream. But a few months into her stay the Covid-19 lockdowns put a standstill to everything and overnight she was let go of all her jobs and was forced to move out of the city and into the countryside where she worked for some mutual friends in exchange for rent whilst seeking out new work opportunities online.
While it may be a beautiful and idyllic sounding storyline to be living in the countryside, smelling the roses and toughing it out in a hundred-year-old Italian villa whilst working diligently to create streams of income online, she was also extremely lonely and isolated as one of the only fluent English speakers in her town.
I know many of us love a good Hollywood rise up out of the ashes story - and she certainly has her fair share of funny and heartwarming, as well as heartbreaking stories from her travels, but after months of no real solid financial support and things only steadily getting worse with covid restrictions and isolation, things were, and are, becoming extremely difficult to navigate.
Sivitri is in an unfortunate position where, despite having been a US resident she has not had the privilege of most unemployed people who were eligible for government assistance or unemployment benefits and being new to Italy she has not been eligible there either so the challenge has been real, raw, and humbling to say the least.
As a talented artist, intuitive medium, healer, and visionary whose desire is to serve the world, especially in this crucial time on the planet, she feels the need to make a tough choice and pivot her direction onward to her place of birth in South Africa - to ground into her native roots, give back to the place she was born, to assist her elderly parents, and to start all over, once again. Most of all, she longs for a community and a home where she can take care of herself, feel grounded, and from where she can create the work she is meant to do.
I’m reaching out for support from you; her loved ones, friends, and acquaintances, for financial assistance in getting her precious belongings and irreplaceable mementos shipped to her from California to South Africa.
There is an urgency to have these items shipped as soon as possible as the storage facility is unable to hold her belongings indefinitely.
Sivitri has worked diligently to find a company that can organize the entire sea freight process so that these items arrive safely. Her goal is to reach $4000 to be able to cover the minimum costs for this shipping service.
I have seen Sivitri move through these very challenging two years with much grace and courage and not much support so I decided to put this crowdfunding effort together on her behalf as she currently has so many moving parts to consider and deal with at this time. Sivitri is a gem of a friend, someone who has nurtured me in times of hardship and is the most multi-talented and caring woman I’ve ever met. I want to see her make this next transition with so much more support and ease! If you can find it in your heart to donate for the cost of shipping, it would take the strain off an already daunting task of moving countries yet again.
The items that are contained in this shipment are not merely things; they are pieces of her soul: one-of-a-kind art pieces she has crafted by hand, written records of her life and travels, her grandmother's dress, and many other things that are simply irreplaceable; all of which inspire her creativity and her heart. It would mean a great deal to her to be reunited with her belongings as she carves out a new life for herself.
Thank you for reading this heartfelt request for support. I’m sending all who read this so much love during these challenging times and pray that your needs are also being met and that you are able to ask for what you truly desire as we are all undergoing great change!
As the Beatles once said: “We get by with a little help from our friends.”
May we all live by this phrase to the best of our abilities!
