Help Simba Get the Urgent Care He Needs

I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask for help like this, and I honestly feel so uncomfortable even reaching out. But right now I feel like I have nowhere else to turn, and I have to try everything I can for my boy.

My cat Simba, who will be 10 years old this year, has been with me since he was just 12 weeks old. He isn’t just a pet — he’s my baby and a very well-loved family cat. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore my cats. They were my first children and have been by my side through everything.

Recently Simba was badly injured, and the vet believes it may have happened during a cat fight. He has a very significant gash in his tail, and sadly the vet says that in their experience injuries like this usually mean the tail doesn’t regain feeling.

At the moment Simba has to keep a cone on his head to stop him touching the wound and to keep it clean and exposed to air so it has the best chance of healing. His tail is currently just dragging behind him when he walks, which is heartbreaking to see.

Whatever happened during the attack has also caused a bulge at the base of his spine, which is why the first and most urgent step is getting an X-ray. This will show us exactly what damage has been done.

The best case scenario is that Simba will need an amputation of his tail, which would prevent infection and allow him to recover and go back to living a happy life. However, the X-ray could also reveal internal damage, and we simply won’t know what we’re dealing with until the scan is done.

The estimated cost for the X-ray, possible surgery, treatment and aftercare is around £2,500, which is far beyond what I can manage on my own right now.

Simba is the gentlest, kindest little soul who just loves to be loved. He is such a huge part of our family and is deeply loved by everyone who knows him. He doesn’t deserve to be in pain, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help him.
