**update on Dave's Recovery**
Great news—Dave is out of the hospital for the time being and is resting at home! However, he will need to return to St. Michael's Hospital in two weeks for further treatment and possible surgery Your support continues to be incredibly important during this period of recovery and preparation for his next steps. We appreciate all the love, prayers, and donations that have been sent his way. Thank you for standing by Dave during this challenging journey.
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,
We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and an urgent plea for help.
Our beloved Dave Grant, has recently suffered a severe injury after a tragic fall off a horse on July 28, 2024. He was rushed to Etobicoke General but due to the severity of his injuries has been transferred to St. Mike’s Hospital in Toronto, where he underwent his first surgery for a shattered pelvis. After further tests Dave also has a spinal injury, and fluid in his stomach. Updated health issues also include fractured bones in his face and prostrate injury. Dave will have to undergo at least one other surgery in about 3 weeks. Doctors have advised that the soonest Dave will be released from hospital care will be end of September, but that is when his physical therapy will hopefully begin. This unexpected accident has left him with critical injuries, and he is now facing a long and challenging road to recovery.
Dave is known for his vibrant spirit, generosity, and unwavering strength. Whether he's lending a hand to a neighbour, fellow rider at Woodbine or sharing a laugh with friends, Dave's positive energy has touched the lives of many. Now, in his time of need, we have an opportunity to give back and support him as he navigates this difficult journey.
The medical expenses for Dave's treatment are substantial, and his recovery process will require extensive rehabilitation, therapy, and ongoing care. Additionally, the inability to work during this period places a significant financial strain on him and his family. This is why we have set up this GoFundMe campaign—to rally together and provide the financial support needed to ensure Dave receives the best possible care and can focus on healing without the burden of overwhelming medical bills.
Your generous contributions will go directly towards:
Medical Expenses: Covering hospital bills, surgeries, medications, and specialist care/consultations.
Rehabilitation and Therapy: Funding physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other essential treatments for a full recovery.
Living Expenses: Assisting with daily living costs as Dave will be unable to work during his recovery period for minimum 6 months.
Support for the Family: Providing some relief to Dave's family as they support him through this challenging time. My mom is struggling to pay the monthly bills, and provide for their horses/dogs whom they both love so much. Gas to get to St. Mikes and parking is in itself a large expense.
No donation is too small, and every bit of support is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your network to help us reach as many people as possible. Your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement are also invaluable as Dave faces this difficult chapter.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support. Together, we can make a significant difference in Dave's recovery and show him the strength of our communities and families.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Julie (Carries daughter and Family)
