Please help Shi reunite with his father

My dear friend of many years, Anna, recently opened up to me about her hardships after bearing the weight all by herself for several months. Back in December, her father, Shi, was diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer after a frightening incident that resulted in a visit to the emergency room. Following the diagnosis, he went through four rounds of chemotherapy from January to February and underwent surgery this past month to remove the tumor. Shi had about 80% of his stomach removed and, as a result, is limited to one cup of food per meal as he recovers. His appetite is slowly returning but he is due for two more rounds of chemotherapy—the treatment has taken quite a toll on him so his family is doing all that they can to help him get through it.

Shi is a mechanical engineer who, according to Anna, “can basically fix anything”. He’s innovative, generous, and a loving father to his 3 children. As the first in his family to immigrate to America, he experienced all kinds of hardships to help his family get to where they are now. One of the sacrifices he made was separating from his father who lives in China. They haven’t been able to see each other in over thirty years but now, Shi wants to return home and spend time with his father over the summer.

Currently, flights to and from China are extremely costly and this trip would be a steep price for Anna’s family. Her mother has been staying at home, taking care of Shi and Anna has cut back on work by 50% to do the same. For as long as I’ve known her, Anna has been remarkably hard-working, bright, and selfless, doing whatever she can to support her loved ones. In return for all these years of being such a wonderful friend in my life, I want to raise money to fly both Anna and Shi to China this summer so that Shi can finally reunite with his father.
