Please continue to help Shannon’s family

Donation protected
The original reason for starting this fundraiser was to help Shannon’s family cover the cost of medical bills while she was in ICU trying to recover from COVID. But on January 17th, Shannon lost her battle with COVID, and joined her family in heaven. Now the fundraiser has turned into also helping with other related costs and making sure she has a headstone where she is laid to rest. The new photo on this fundraiser is of the headstone picked out for her, but until that is paid for, the headstone won’t be made and won’t be placed. If we can reach our goal for this fundraiser it will cover the cost of that headstone. Please, If you are able to help, every penny counts. Let’s wrap our arms around this family one more time (or continue to, since we still are) and give Shannon a headstone and the family a good place to help them grieve the loss of this beautiful soul. Thank you so much to everyone for getting us this far and showing this family and Shannon so much love and support through this tragic time. ❤️

I am fundraising for my sister’s family to help with medical bills and other expenses while she is fighting for her life. My best friend and sister, Shannon, along with her husband and kids, got sick on Christmas with Covid. Her husband and children slowly recovered, but Shannon just wasn't getting better. On Tuesday of last week Dave, her husband, tried to wake her up but she wouldn't respond. He called the ambulance and when they got her to the ER they immediately had to intubated her. She is in ICU right now in a medically induced coma. She's very up and down, but we are seeing some small improvements day by day. The doctors say it could be a month or more, they just don’t know.

Covid patients often take longer to wean off the respirator and are much more sensitive to movements and changes. This is what we are seeing now. Each time they shift her position or move her to avoid sores developing, her oxygen and other stats dip down low and have some difficulty rebounding back. It's going to be a long recovery for her. She will more than likely be in a coma for at least a couple weeks, possibly longer, while she is intubated and letting her lungs heal. The longer she stays intubated the longer her recovery will be and she could end up needing to go to a rehab facility to gain her strength and recover fully.

Her husband, Dave, has MS, and although he is able to get around, work and is taking care of his family very well, he has a lot of difficulties. Along with this he is having to be the strength for his children as well as do what he can to help take care of Shannon’s mom, who is elderly and lives alone, but is also currently in the hospital with pneumonia. During this difficult time the family has gone down to one income. Dave has an abundance of medical bills for his condition and they have managed to do what they can to take care of these, but now Shannon also will have an abundance of medical bills that will increase rapidly as she is in ICU.

With both of their medical bills, as well as other living expenses, and only one income now, I am trying to raise money to help them not drown in debt over this! Please help me help them during this very difficult time.

Thank you in advance for all of your help!
