How much would you pay to save your pet? That's a question I've had to ask myself all week.
Sebastian is a 13-year-old orange, toothless wonder of a cat. I often joke that he and I are a bonded pair; after all, gingers should never be alone. He has never missed a night of cuddles, always sleeping on my right side under my arm, and when I'm having panic attacks, he comes and lies on my chest and purrs until it's over. He has been there for me through some of the most challenging times of my life, and now I'm forced to ask for help returning the favor.
On Thursday, Seb had no interest in food, which is suspicious. By the end of the day, he was showing serious signs of distress. He was rushed to the cat ER, where tests showed there was an issue with his kidneys. Over the last five days, he has been in and out of vet visits, until today (Tuesday), when his levels spiked. He is now in the ER overnight for more tests and fluids.
It's currently unknown if he ingested something or if this has been an underlying issue. Either way, if we can get him stable, he will have many more years to boss all the other cats around.
I've been able to cover all tests and visits so far, but it has reached a point where help is needed to continue.
