Please Help Save Zoey

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Susan Grundman, a 69 year old with congestive heart failure.  My husband, Ed is 70, a VietNam Vet and he is disabled for a little she over 10 years now.  At around 14, the beautiful granddaughter we raised became a Victim of the opiode epidemic in our country.   Zoey is currently in rehab.
We are asking people to help us pay for saving her life.  Please open your heart and read on.
About Zoey
She has a beautiful heart and lights up a room with her smile. She is so very intelligent and kind.  Zoey loves animals and people.  Her goal in life is to "help people", but she had many bad, sad and terrible things happen to her throughout her life.  She is sad and troubled with pain bottled up inside of her.  Zoey will be getting to the root of her problems so that she will be able to deal with day to day struggles of life and her personal struggles.
She did not /does not want to be a drug addict.

Why Zoey/We Need Your Donations
The Rehabilitation Center is costing $35,000.00.
Zoey wanted it to be a hollistic detox and rehab.  She did not want to treat drug addiction with other drugs, and for that we are so thankful, it is longer detox, but that is the good thing, getting it out of your system.
There are other cost that we can manage on our Social Security only income. These costs are  for phone calls, personal sundries, snack, special cereal, food and drink, personal items, etc.  Packages were limited to two large, and she got three, which was kind.  She could be there for upto a year. The cost is a flat fee which is actually very reasonable as we have researched them for years.  Again, we have no insurance to help with this.
All donations, no matter how small, will help Zoey and us.  There are no words that can express our gratitude.

More about Zoey's difficult journey
After 4 years of searching, trying to work with state insurance and laws in both WA and CA , getting diagnoses, assessments, medicatons. but never getting her into a rehab.  So very frustrating.  It was a daunting  task that after literally 100's of hours produced nothing.  We finally found a rehab facility that would take her, but we are obligated for the money, they do not take Medicaid and Zoey was getting the run around from Medicaid.
Zoey was sent to counseling, anger management, drug classes and a few times we had rehab facilities ready for her, but she would not go at the last minute and in WA the law is they must want to get help.  She was in the hospital several times for various issues including suicide attempts or threats and anger issues. She started cutting, which releases endorphins causing a euphoria I guess.  She was running away for days at a time.  She became a totally different person full of hate and anger toward us and authority.  Much of these feelings were due to her feeling of abandonment and drugs.
When she turned 18 this is what has happened over the past 9 months.  She wanted to grow up and felt she could do that better away from Grandma and Grandpa in California.  She has friends and family there, unfortunately they live in the foothills where the huge fire burned trees, and homes to the ground. Most her friends lost their homes and are still living with friends or in temporary trailers.  She was so upset seeing the devastation her friends went through, she was depressed, and scared but determined to live on her own and grow up.   She had no where to stay so she went to San Francisco and started to take her pain away with heroin again and probably other things. I use to think people could just make better choices, but I soon came to realize after so much investigation that this is a horrible disease that requires months of rehabilitation and counseling to be effective.
She was 5'4' 130 lbs and in great shape even though she was using but even that stopped before she left.  Now she is still 5'4" , but 99lbs.  Not good :(  In San Francisco around the Civic Center there are drugs addicts shooting-up on the street, blood all over, and human feces on the sidewalks.  Zoey got an infection in her hand on Thanksgiving and was in hospital for MRSA for 6 days.  We went to get her and bring her home, but she would not come, she was so ashamed.
In February she got scabies.  YUK! That was her bottom.        When she said she wanted to get help and change her life she was crying saying "I want to go into to rehab right now." After a very long drive made by a great family friend that drove her there When they arrived she was glad, tired, hurting, but wanted to be there.  So proud of her resolve.  She is in a great place and safe, which is such a relief, but now we have to be sure she can finish.
Thank you for reading Zoey's story and and ours.  Thank you, because if you help to save Zoey, you are also helping to save us.
Love to you all from Zoey because I know she feels that way, and thank you to Zoey's friends that drove to San Francisco and picked her up. To all that helped and where kind to Zoey, especially Cowboy Mike who drove 10 1/2 hours to get her to the rehab center. An amazing friend that we will never be able to thank enough.
Thank you, this is very hard for me and Ed, but we will do anything to get our Zoey back and healthy in every way.
