PLEASE HELP SAVE THE TRENT PARK ANIMAL CENTRE : £40,000 IS NEEDED TO HELP SECURE ITS FUTURE

My name is Elena and I am raising funds for Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (Enfield) (WRAS), a registered charity, which since 1985 has operated the Trent Park Animal Centre based in Enfield www.wras-enfieldwildlife.org.uk

WRAS provides a refuge for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, as well as unwanted farm animals, taking in hundreds of animals each year. Those that can be returned to the wild after being looked after are and those that can never be returned to the wild become long-term residents. The Centre has been run from the time it was opened by Barry and June Smitherman who were both awarded MBEs in 2005 for services to wildlife. They are assisted by a vet and a dedicated team of helpers.

WRAS receives no public funding and relies entirely on donations from visitors to help care for the animals.

As a local resident, I share the deep admiration and respect that so many of us have for the remarkable wildlife that surrounds us – a precious part of our community that we are incredibly fortunate to have and which these days is massively under threat. The work that WRAS does to look after vulnerable animals and birds is truly amazing and must be allowed to continue.

Increases in rent, staff costs and the price of food and medication for the animals have taken a heavy toll on WRAS’s finances. It is struggling to provide everything the animals and birds need and is unable to take in as many as actually need sanctuary. Even some of the pens at the Centre are standing empty because WRAS cannot afford to repair them.

I recently learned that WRAS is now facing a severe financial situation and is desperately trying to raise enough money to avoid the Centre having to close. If it has to close, WRAS will need to try to rehome hundreds of vulnerable animals and birds and any that cannot be rehomed may need to be euthanized.

£40,000 IS NEEDED

WRAS needs to raise £40,000 to put the charity in a more secure and sustainable position and help ensure the Centre can continue its vital work.

The vulnerable animals and birds at the Centre now and in the future have no voice.

We can be their voice.

Please help me support WRAS and give the Centre a fighting chance to remain open so that it can continue rescuing and caring for the wildlife that so desperately needs them.
