PLEASE HELP SAVE THANG’S LIFE

Our family was devastated when just a few months ago Thang, our brother, 16 years old, was diagnosed with a peculiar form of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia - an aggressive type of blood cancer.

Until last Summer Thang had a normal life, he used to attend the high school like every kid of his age, he loved playing badminton, was taking guitar lessons, and was happily enjoying his teenager years.

Following the diagnosis, Thang has received numerous cycles of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy which at first successfully decreased the number of cancer cells.

However, in December 2021 it became clear that Thang suffers from a rare early relapse oncological condition, and the cancer cells infiltrated to the central nervous system and the brain. This is causing him serious neurological problems: he cannot move an eye anymore, part of his face is paralyzed, he can hardly move his arms, he has trouble walking even within his hospital room, and he suffers from persistent unbearable pain, that the doctors can only partially mitigate with morphine.

Thang has his whole future in front of him. He is a fighter, an optimist, and a loving son and brother.

But the cancer is refractory to conventional therapies and spreading very quickly.

Now the only treatment that can save Thang’s life is a particular type of “Car-T therapy”, which only a few hospitals can provide, and which costs 560,000 US dollars.

If Thang does not receive this therapy urgently, he has no chances to survive.

So we are asking for your urgent help, to let Thang receive this therapy, and save his life.

Unsere Familie war am Boden zerstört, als vor einigen Monaten bei Thang, unserem kleinen Bruder, eine akute lymphatische Leukämie, eine aggressive Form von Blutkrebs, diagnostiziert wurde.

Bis zum letzten Sommer führte Thang ein ganz normales Leben, er besuchte wie alle anderen Kinder in seinem Alter die Oberschule, er spielte gerne Badminton, nahm Gitarrenunterricht und genoss seine Teenagerjahre.

Thang leidet jedoch an einem seltenen frühen onkologischen Rückfall, und vor etwas mehr als einem Monat sind die Krebszellen in das zentrale Nervensystem eingedrungen. Dies verursacht bei ihm schwerwiegende neurologische Probleme: Er hat Schwierigkeiten, selbst innerhalb seines Krankenhauszimmers zu gehen, und er leidet unter anhaltenden unerträglichen Schmerzen, die die Ärzte nur teilweise mit Schmerzmittel lindern können.

Thang hat seine ganze Zukunft noch vor sich. Er ist ein Kämpfer, ein Optimist und ein liebevoller Sohn und Bruder.

Doch der Krebs ist widerstandsfähig gegenüber herkömmlichen Therapien und breitet sich sehr schnell aus.

Die einzige Behandlung, die Thangs Leben noch retten kann, ist die "Car-T-Therapie", die nur wenige Krankenhäuser anbieten können und die 560.000 US-Dollar (510.000 Euro) kostet.

Wenn Thang diese Therapie nicht umgehend erhält, hat er keine Überlebenschancen.

SALVIAMO LA VITA A THANG

Thang è un ragazzo di 16 anni, di origine Vietnamita, alcuni mesi fa è stata diagnosticata una Leucemia Linfoblastica Acuta.

Fino all’estate scorsa Thang aveva una vita normale, frequentava la scuola come ogni altro ragazzino della sua età, amava giocare a tennis e stava imparando a suonare la chitarra, e si stava godendo i suoi anni da adolescente.

Dopo la diagnosi Thang a ricevuto vari cicli di Chemioterapia e Radioterapia, le quali all’inizio hanno avuto successo diminuendo significativamente il numero di cellule tumorali.

Purtroppo però poco prima di Natale 2021 è emerso che la malattia che ha colpito Thang è una rara forma di Leucemia che non risponde alle terapie tradizionali. Le cellule tumorali sono penetrate nel sistema nervoso centrale e nel cervello, e questo gli sta creando numerosi problemi neurologici: non può più muovere un occhio, parte della sua faccia è paralizzata, riesce a malapena a muovere le braccia, riesce a spostarsi nella sua stanza di ospedale con molta difficoltà, ed è colto da forti dolori che i medici riescono solo a mitigare con la morfina.

Thang ha tutto la sua vita di fronte a sé. Lui è ottimista, combattivo, ed è un figlio e un fratello molto dolce ed amorevole.

Ma il cancro è refrattario a tutte le cure convenzionali e si sta diffondendo molto rapidamente.

Adesso l’unico trattamento che può salvare la vita a Thang è una particolare tipologia di terapia “Car-T”, la quale è offerta da pochissimi ospedali.

Questa terapia costa 560.000 dollari (cioè circa 510.000 euro).

Se Thang non sarà sottoposto a questa terapia urgentemente, non ha nessuna speranza di sopravvivere.

Quindi stiamo chiedendo il Tuo aiuto urgente, per far si che Thang possa ricevere questa terapia e gli possa essere salvata la vita.

Il Tuo contributo è l’unica speranza per Thang.
