Rex is a beautiful 1-year-old dog with his whole life ahead of him. On Saturday, his owners Rachel and Dan were devastated to find Rex coughing up blood and rushed him straight to the vets.

Rex has remained under veterinary care since, but his condition is critical. Today, he needs to be urgently transferred to Wakefield for a specialist emergency operation that could save his life. The initial cost so far for his treatment is £5,750, with further costs likely when he arrives in Wakefield and his emergency surgery begins (£10,000).

Rachel and Dan are doing everything they possibly can for Rex, but the sudden and overwhelming cost of emergency specialist treatment has come as a huge shock. Anyone who knows them knows how deeply loved Rex is. He’s family, not “just a dog”.
