Reggie is my 9-year-old pug and truly my best friend. Recently, after undergoing both an MRI and CT scans, he has been diagnosed with a serious spinal condition. This condition is putting pressure on his spinal cord, causing loss of coordination in his back legs and affecting his ability to control his bowel movements.
Without treatment, Reggie’s condition will continue to worsen. He will eventually become paralysed from the middle of his back downwards, losing the use of his back legs entirely and requiring full-time assistance. His quality of life would be severely impacted, and that’s something I’m desperately trying to prevent.
The only option to save him is complex spinal surgery. This involves implanting two custom-made metal structures to stabilise and fuse his spine. These implants are specifically designed for Reggie, giving him the best possible chance at recovery and a normal, happy life.
The cost of this surgery is estimated at £6,000. I have managed to cover a portion of this myself, but due to a recent change in my home circumstances, I am now Reggie’s sole carer and I’m unable to fund the remaining amount alone.
Reggie deserves the chance to live a full and happy life, free from pain and suffering. He has given me nothing but love, and I want to do everything I can to give that back to him.
Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would also make a huge difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Reggie’s story and for any support you can give.
