Please help save Percy!
Hi Everyone!
My good friend Paula needs our help. Her dog Percy, who is her pride and joy, and who has made so many people smile over the years is very sick, and needs our help to save this amazing dog. Here’s her story! In January 2016 Paula rescued Perceval (Percy for short) from a shelter.
Last week Percy was admitted to the ER with a collapsed lung- he had about 500 mL of air removed from his chest that wasn't going into his lungs. Since they could not find a cause for his condition it was diagnosed as spontaneous pneumothorax. The vets were able to stabilize him and he was discharged Friday evening where she kept a close eye on him.
Yesterday, she noticed his breathing was exaggerated and called the ER and they recommended bringing him in. He has since had a CT Scan and it showed multiple bulla (fluid filled sacs/lesions) in both lungs. There are two options at this point: an invasive chest surgery, or an experimental blood patch procedure. Percy is only about 6 years old, and has so much life left in him if he is given the opportunity and the treatment is successful. At this point the vet bills are racking up; and we don’t have the heart to have the bills come in the way of his survival. Given the current situation with the pandemic and limited funds, we are asking for any for any help we can get at this point to help save Percy.
Thank you for helping give this love a fighting chance!
Thank you,
Jen
