More information about Penniwells Riding Centre: Penniwells provides riding and horse care sessions to adults and children of all abilities. Disabled riders are given the opportunity to ride in competition as well as riding for therapy. The Centre is volunteer-based and always looking for ways to raise much-needed funds. It costs over two hundred thousand pounds every year to run with only half of these costs coming in through riding fees. We rely entirely on donations, fundraising, and goodwill in order to keep providing such a needed service.
Penniwells relies on rider funds and fundraising to pay the bills. Penniwells had140 riders a week (Pre Covid-19), impacting net income.
Fundraising efforts have also been significantly affected.
The Penniwells team (family of staff, riders, volunteers, and supporters) work tirelessly to supplement the income from the rider fees (which are subsidised) to raise Additional the funds to ensure this amazing provision can function and support their riders to achieve- its what you can do that matters.
Unfortunately, the number of riders reduced to 0 from 17/03/2020 and during the lockdown.
This number is slowly creeping up, currently, less than 10 % of the riders have been able to return which has decimated Penniewells income (despite some rider family's offering some financial support.
This means a very real possibility of a downsizing of the centre or even closure in the near future if we cannot meet our costs. (Penniwells cost £10,000 a month to run EVEN WITHOUT RIDERS. Horses still need to be cared for, bills still happen).
This is, unfortunately, a very real possibility. Funds are decreasing exponentially with big bills expected shortly, as such by the end of September Penniwells will be in their reserve emergency funds, which will only last the maximum of two months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are desperate to continue doing what they do best: The very small team of staff and roughly 65 volunteers in a NORMAL week are one big supportive family, our family.
Penniwells remove barriers that enable children, young people, and adults with diverse disabilities to benefit from being around, and riding horses. Horses can support people with:
Communication and Interaction Difficulties.
Cognition and Learning.
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs.
Physical and Sensory Needs.
Penniwells NEED HELP: Please Help.
My daughter rides here, we travel (when my daughter is able to ride) 78 miles for a half-hour lesson- because of the amazing team and the amazing benefits this centre has for her. This is her happy place. Penniwells are our family. They have supported my daughter to overcome serious medical issues (and have supported her in all the four broad areas of SEND, being a complex young lady) that no-one let alone a 13 year old should ever have to deal with (she is now 19).
The future for this amazing centre is BLEAK.
