Update as of 21 Nov. our running bill is at $26,000+ now. Papa is out of the ICU and just had a PEG insertion surgery. If all goes well, he can continue his recovery at home! We will need to buy medical equipment like oxygen tanks, nebuliser, hospital bed, wheelchair, suction machine, etc. We’ve been in Baguio for 3weeks now.

Our father Oscar (Tolits/Lito) is in the ICU since Saturday afternoon, 2 November, after suffering a stroke, which caused a blood clot in his brain stem. He’s also fighting pneumonia and a tough infection that isn’t responding to common antibiotics. Even though he’s facing all of this, Papa is fighting so hard to stay with us.

The doctors have suggested a new treatment that could potentially help but it costs an additional 30,000php ($772 aud) every day. We’re moving forward because we see his determination… but we can’t afford this alone and the bills are piling up with no end to his ICU stay in sight.

I have used my savings to book a rush flight back to the Philippines. We also have to pay for our food and accommodation since 2 November (Papa was on a vacation with his siblings when the stroke happened, hence why we are all a long way from home).
