Hello All,

For those of you who have been following Trenell (Trenie) Filkins’ journey with her LVAD, you know how serious her health situation has been and still is. For those of you who have not been following, an LVAD is a machine in place to pump for her heart. She also has a pacemaker to correct the irregular beating of her heart.

The area surrounding her pacemaker has become infected and it has now spread to her blood. She has been in the hospital on IV antibiotics that haven’t removed the infection. She will need to have her pacemaker and the leads (some of which she’s had placed since 2008) removed. The procedure is INCREDIBLY RISKY with possible complications that could cause cardiac arrest. If cardiac arrest were to occur, an open-heart surgery would be required to which the outcome is unknown. They’ve given her the option to not have the surgery however the infection could be fatal.

RGH is currently the hospital providing her care though the doctors have admitted they’re not the most skilled at this procedure. Thankfully they have found a doctor in Philadelphia who specializes in the exact procedure and is willing to perform the surgery!!!

WE NEED HELP getting her down there IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS but also to help with the cost for whomever will be staying down there with her as her support.

As most of you know, her husband Patrick Filkins, passed away this time last year from complications following a massive heart attack. Her children, grandchildren, and the rest of our family are in desperate need of prayers and assistance.
