Please help save Oey

Hi, my name is Carl.

 

And this, this is Oey.

 

Oey first started showing signs of acute renal disease back in April, but after we treated his (antibiotic-resistant) case of E-Coli, he steadily improved for a several months.

 

Knowing that it could be his last road trip and, given his strong daily and monthly improvements, it was decided that he'd join us for a trip to Wyoming last month.

 

And enjoy it he absolutely did! He showed only signs of gaining strength the whole time... he made lots of friends and did some hiking, all of which he loved... but when we got back home to San Diego, he started losing weight again.

 

The other day, he got MUCH worse. It seems that he became chronically dehydrated, which put immense strain on his renal system.

 

I was sent home from the vet last Friday with 3 bags of subcutaneous fluids, 2 weeks worth of antibiotics, and a grim prognosis.

 

After 2 days of fluid administration and antibiotics, Oey started feeling better, and even tried to eat (although his gag reflex got in the way of that).

 

He doesn't want to go. And I don't think it's his time either. He seems capable of recovery, given the right treatments, and he's a strong boy, so if he gets said treatments, I think his odds of survival are immensely improved.

 

The ER veterinarian says that he could possibly be saved, but that it would take at least 3 days in intensive care. And at $2500 per night, I can't afford it.

 

I know that it's a long shot with my best buddy at this point... But if a few nights in the doggy hospital and a few grand are all that stand between him, and a chance at another year or two of running around canyons with me...

 

... well then, I guess that's why I'm not gonna go down without starting a crowdfunding campaign.

 

I want to pay for the best care he can get.

 

But at the end of the day, even that might not be enough.

 

So if there is any left over, or if Oey passes away before your funds are used, please rest assured that any and all excess funds will be donated to campaigns at Free Animal Doctor or reimbursed if required.
