It is common knowledge that the loss of a beloved pet can be as traumatic as the loss of a family member, because, to many of us, our pets ARE our family members.
You won’t find anyone who loves animals more than my friend Nostalghia. She has had a harrowing and stressful past several days as an accidental poisoning left her two dogs hanging on by a thread. In fact, she was told that one of them was beyond saving. One of them seems to have recovered, the other is still in trouble.
In her efforts to save the both of them she has incurred a massive veterinary bill, now approaching $20,000. She has emptied her bank account as there is no payment plan for this vet bill. This accident has devastated her emotionally and financially.
Those two dogs are essentially her children. I don’t have words to explain how overwhelming this situation has been to her. I’m asking all animal lovers, friends and fans to look into your hearts and please help.
Here is her story ---
It is with deep sadness that I begin this plea for help. My most beloved dogs Luna & Rudy (aka- Creature) have been in desperate need of care.
On Saturday evening at 9 pm my preciously greedy pups managed to down an entire bottle of Advil (130 pills) which is completely lethal for dogs in even low doses (40 can be lethal for large dogs, and 10 for small dogs).
My Chocolate Lab happened to see an apple slice on the back kitchen counter and in an attempt to get the apple, he also managed to pull down the bottle of Advil and open it. Because the pills are coated in sugar, he ingested most of them, while Luna mostly sat there and watched. We do not know how many she ingested.
Luckily, I caught them in time and rushed them to the vet pushing past giant service trucks (the power went out) and the local fires.
It has been...quite a rough 72 hours.
Right when we arrived they induced vomiting on both dogs and immediately began treatment.
I have completely emptied my bank account (thus far, 15,000 dollars in and counting) to keep them alive. Creature is currently in critical condition and I need all the assistance I can get to continue caring for them. Currently they are assessing whether the medicine has eaten a hole through the intestine, which would mean blood transfusions and potentially a surgery. And this is all on top of them spending four days in intensive care in the hospital.
My babies couldn’t be sweeter, or more pure if they tried. They are best friends, and I will never forgive myself if I don’t give them the best chance at surviving and thriving.
Please, if you can find it in your heart, help me keep these pups alive and well. And if you can’t, please share with anyone you can possibly think up who might be able to assist. Any and all healing energy dedicated to my precious little nuggets is most welcome
