Hi friends.

Well. It’s not great news.

The very short version is that Thistle, my dear 12 year old feline familiar, is in the hospital being treated for liver disease. She started exhibiting weird symptoms and not eating or drinking within the last week.

She was hospitalized overnight last night to the tune of 1,500, and we’re looking at a minimum of two more nights, plus the cost of whatever testing they need to do to finalized the specific diagnosis. I don’t know what the final cost will be. I have help paying for some the necessary upfront costs but it is on a loan basis and I will need to recoup as many of these expenses as I can.

The situation is very serious, but she’s responding well to her treatment which is a GREAT sign, most of her other bloodwork is very strong, and the vet reassured me that this wasn’t necessarily the end- liver disease in cats is apparently more treatable than kidney disease, so she could pull through.

She’s a curious, loving, adventurous girl full of energy and attitude. This came on so suddenly, and I need to do everything I can to save her.
