♡♡♡♡♡UPDATE 10/10/25♡♡♡♡♡
the fundraiser is being reopened.
on 10/8/25 we took orlok to the aforementioned vet. we dropped him off, and around 3 hours later I was called to be informed that they could not perform the procedure. I was completely heartbroken. they looked at his X rays, examined him and told me they could do it, just to tell me hours after I dropped him off that they couldn't do it. so I am re opening the gfm. I am feeling really discouraged.
☆☆☆ UPDATE 10/4/25: ☆☆☆
as of right now, the gofundme is closed unless something else changes.
I went to a different vet this morning, and was given a full detailed quote.
I really dont know why my regular vet made me feel like I had to shell out 8000 to someone when I didnt.
the new updated quote is a little over 1000.
a wonderful person from Facebook referred me to this vet, covered his exam fee and created a post asking for donations by phone, directly to the vet.
the money that has been donated so far will be used towards the vet fees.
thank you to everyone who has donated, and to everyone who has shared, im not sure where we would be without you.
update 9/29/25:
My vet called me this morning. she told me the projected cost of surgery would be between 5000 and 7000. she told me that if I cant get it done within the next week or two that he will have to be euthanized because once it heals he wont be able to eat. im not sure what to do at this point. any help would be amazing.
Hello. I urgently need assistance in helping my kitten get the care that he needs.
Current expenses so far: $281
(this will be updated as I go)
This is going to be a long post due to writing out the timeline and circumstances.
He has a fractured/broken jaw near the joint. His teeth are misaligned and his jaw is crooked. He is unable to eat anything besides churus (a liquid treat meant for hand feeding) and is having trouble getting his water intake. If he does not have the surgery required to correct his jaw he will be permanently disabled and live a life with chronic pain. He also has ptsd.
The cause of the injury was due to him walking up behind my beagle from behind a sheet, surprising and scaring her, and she attacked him. He is now afraid of her, loud noises, and other dogs. In the pictures, you can see the comparison between him now and him before. His jaw is really swollen on one side, like a bee sting, and he has trouble keeping his mouth closed and his tongue in his mouth.
Heres the timeline so far:
Day one, Monday, 9/22/25 The attack, realizing something was wrong, he was laying down and not really moving much, disinterested, and sleeping. He lifted his head to look at me and I saw that his jaw was hanging down a bit. This horrified me and my mom took me to the closest emergency vet as soon as she could. They took him in and gave him mild sedatives and did a quick exam but no X rays, as I did not have the funds available to pay it outright at such short notice. Their findings showed that he had a crunching sensation in his jaw, likely due to a fracture. I would have been looking at paying around $300 this day but the vet overseeing him gave me a discount which I am very thankful for, and ended up paying $135.06. She prescribed him 5 days worth of Meloxicam.
Tuesday, 9/23/25 I called his normal vet and they told me to bring him in the next day (today as of writing this) as soon as they opened for X rays.
Wednesday, 9/24/25, its 8:30 as of writing this. This is what happened today:
His vet sedated him and performed X rays on him. She found that he had a serious fracture in his jaw and PTSD judging on how on edge he was from the sound of dogs barking. Out of pocket I would have been paying almost $1000 today, but my vet (banfield) has a wellness plan that costs $88 a month. I paid $95 today. I also had to purchase a baby gate to separate my dog and cat which cost $23. He will be prescribed Gabapentin as well which hasn't been done yet so I'm not sure how much it will be. They gave me enough doses for two days while I was there as they cannot give more than that in their facility.
Invoices and results:
As of this current moment, my expenses are around $253.
Now the reason the goal is so much. He has to go to a specialty dentist that is not in my network, and I will have to pay in full. He will be undergoing CT scans, sedation, X rays, and a surgery, All of this together can range between $3,000 and $6,000. I absolutely cannot cover this right now. I absolutely hate asking for money help, and I didn't want to do this, but my babies matter more to me than anything. I am also planning to enroll my dog in private behavioral lessons, which will be costly as well but I feel like asking for help in that will be asking too much. She's an amazing, sweet dog, and it would be very rough without her. She just has issues we can't handle solely on our own, especially with our hands full with my baby Orlok. We are working with her at home but professional help is going to be the best option as well. We don't know where this behavior came from, as she was raised with cats from a very small puppy. But she was found dumped on the side of a road, so I'm not sure. The same day she attacked Orlok, she was attacked by a neighbor's dog instantly as we walked out of the apartment. It was a very large bully type dog, and it tried to kill my dog. Ever since then she has been very fearful and reactive, and on edge. So I really, really want to get her help, I don't want to lose her as much as I don't want to lose my cats.
Anyways, I need to raise this money as soon as possible. I will be calling the dentist as soon as I get a contact to figure out payments and stuff, so that I can update this. Because i absolutely cannot wait until he starts to heal, as it will, as previously stated, cause permanent disability and pain. If you can help, in any way, be that through monetary donations or through spreading the word, I would be extremely grateful. I've already lost a cat due to an unrelated dog attack, and lost two due to someone purposefully releasing them into the outdoors.
Please, please consider donating and sharing. If you are not in the financial state to be able to donate, don't do it. I don't want to break somebody else's bank like mine is being broken. Just share. Thank you so much for reading and considering to help me and my baby.
