Please Help Save Missy – She Needs Life-Saving Surgery

My name is Paula, and I’m writing this with a very heavy heart on behalf of my daughter and her beloved dog, Missy.

Missy has been unwell for almost a month now. What started as a small cut on her paw has turned into something far worse. Her paw is red, swollen, and extremely painful, and after weeks of antibiotics and vet visits, we now know there is something lodged deep inside that must be removed with surgery. Without this operation, Missy’s suffering will only get worse.

The cost of the surgery, sedation, and X-rays is around £900. This comes on top of the £450 already spent on consultations, medication, and painkillers, bringing the total to £1,350 in just one month. We have also been told that after surgery, Missy will need another course of antibiotics — which my daughter has already purchased outright to make sure nothing delays Missy’s recovery.

As if this wasn’t already heartbreaking enough, my daughter also lost one of her cats suddenly on the 29th of August due to a bladder blockage. She had no choice but to pay the emergency vet bill of £340 that night. In just weeks, she has faced more loss, heartbreak, and financial strain than anyone should ever have to bear.

On top of this, Missy requires lifelong medication (Prednicare), which comes with the added cost of a mandatory vet consultation every three months. This is something my daughter has been committed to funding, no matter what, because Missy’s health depends on it. But with these sudden, overwhelming bills, trying to pay off the entire surgery cost within three months to avoid credit card interest will be an enormous struggle — even with help from family.

My daughter is only 22 years old. Since the age of 19, she has devoted her life to her animals — putting their needs before her own, even while managing her own health struggles. Missy isn’t “just a pet” to her — she is her best friend, her comfort, and her family. Watching Missy limp in pain every day and not being able to afford the surgery outright has left her completely broken.

Because of the urgency, I have had to put the cost on my credit card, but if the whole cost isn’t paid of within 3 months the debt will spiral with interest. That is why I am desperately asking for your help.

Please, if you can spare anything at all, no matter how small, it will go directly towards saving Missy and giving her the chance to run, play, and enjoy life again.
